Spinach and feta is a delicious combination that is used in a variety of dishes. Adding it to pizza is just a no brainer. You get the saltiness from the feta, the veggies with the spinach, and adding in some garlic and mozzarella just makes it all the better.
This is a very simple pizza recipe that you can put together fairly quickly.
What type of pizza dough to use
You can use any type of pizza dough for this recipe. I love using a Neapolitan style dough, you can find the recipe I use here. You could also use any pre-made dough or even a focaccia style dough.
The toppings make enough for a 12-14” pizza so if you are doing something larger, I would just bump up the amount of toppings.
Do you cook the spinach before adding it to pizza?
Yes, cooking the spinach before adding it to the pizza cooks out excess moisture so it doesn’t make the pizza soggy. I also like cooking the spinach before because you can add more spinach to the pizza since it is wilted.
Another benefit to cooking the spinach before is that you can add a little bit of flavor to the spinach. I like to cook it with some olive oil and garlic to add an extra flavor to the pizza.
Tips for the Best Spinach and Feta Pizza
- Adjust ingredient amounts for your pizza size. If you are making a larger pizza or a couple of smaller pizzas you may want to add more cheese or spinach. The amounts in this recipe are great for a single round 12” pizza.
- Top with a little olive oil or salt at the end. For that extra little bit of flavor you can drizzle some nice olive oil or sprinkle a bit of salt on top after the pizza is out of the oven.
- Serve right away. This pizza is best served hot, so enjoy right after baking!
