This watermelon salad recipe is the perfect summer salad to add to any meal. I even love serving this as a side dish or a snack.
The best part is that this is such an easy recipe! The combination of sweet watermelon and strawberries with the feta is the perfect balance.
Watermelon Salad Ingredients
With the few simple ingredients you can make a unique salad that will be a crowd pleaser. Just add everything to a large bowl and toss!
- Watermelon: Make sure to use a ripe watermelon. You can use any size, I like to use the small watermelons because they are a little easier to cut. I also like to use a seedless watermelon if you can find it.
- Strawberries: Nothing says summer more than fresh watermelon and berries. Strawberries are one of my favorite summer fruit so I had to add it to this summer salad recipe. This recipe uses chopped up strawberries to add a little extra sweetness to the salad. If you don’t have strawberries you could use fresh blueberries or just skip the ingredient.
- Feta: Adding in the salty feta cheese is a great compliment to the sweet fruit in this recipe. The watermelon feta pair sounds like an odd combination but trust me, it make such a delicious salad. The sweetness of the watermelon goes great with the saltiness of the feta.
- Basil: Use fresh basil leaves in this recipe, dried basil won’t give it the same fresh flavors. Fresh herbs really gives this salad a bright taste. If you can’t find basil, you could also use fresh mint leaves.
- Dressing: For the balsamic dressing, it is a blend of olive oil, lemon juice, and balsamic. If you don’t like balsamic vinegar you could skip this and just use the oil and lemon.
Some people like to add other ingredients such as chopped red onion or chopped english cucumbers. You could also use goat cheese instead of feta is you prefer.
