With just 3 main ingredients you can have the perfect crispy topper to any dish.
How to use crispy chickpeas?
Crispy chickpeas are a great addition in many recipes. They add some flavor and crunch. Here are a few of my favorite ways to use crispy chickpeas:
- Top a salad
- Mix with roasted veggies
- Add to a rice bowl
- Top a bowl of hummus
- Eat as a snack
Why should you eat chickpeas?
Chickpeas are a great protein source to add to a dish to get that extra bit of nutrition. Chickpeas are also very high in fiber, calcium, and magnesium.
What type of chickpeas should I use?
For this recipe I always use canned chickpea. It makes it much easier and quicker to make than using dried beans. Since you are roasted them, canned ones do great.
How to season crispy chickpeas
To roasted chickpeas, I always use olive oil and salt. You can just use that and they will turn out great, but you can also add in some extra flavors. In this recipe I add red pepper flakes, that gives them a little kick. You could also add 1/4 tsp of garlic powder, smoked paprika, or onion powder. Feel free to add multiple spices if you would like. This recipe is very versatile so you can change it based on your preferences.
Can I store crispy chickpeas?
Yes, you can. You can make a batch of crispy chickpeas and add them to salads throughout the week. To store them, keep them in a tight container in the refrigerator. A mason jar works great.
When you are ready to use them, heat up a fry pan over medium heat and add the chickpeas to the pan for a couple of minutes to re-crisp them. You can put them in the microwave, but they lose their crispiness. You can also add them cold if you are ok with that. They will last about a week in the fridge.
