I have a confession to make, I haven’t always loved sweet potatoes. Growing up I hated them, and even when I started cooking for myself I just wasn’t a fan. This changed when I started learning how I like to eat them. Also, a lot of trial and error.
I wanted to like them because I see them in a lot of interesting recipes, and most of all, they are very nutritious.
Now that I am starting to enjoy sweet potatoes, I want to share some recipes that made me love this vegetable.

My favorite ways to eat sweet potatoes are roasted and added to a veggie bowl or salad. I think baking sweet potatoes to get that crispy edge is the best way to consume sweet potatoes. You can also, steam them or bake them whole.

One of the main reasons to eat sweet potatoes if for their amazing nutritional benefits. Sweet potatoes are packed with fiber, vitamins, and minerals. The compound that gives them an orange color actually make them high in antioxidants and has benefits to your vision.

Store your sweet potatoes in a dark, dry area such as a pantry. Don’t store them in your fridge. The cold temperature will make them spoil fast. Wait to wash your sweet potatoes until right before using them.
Wait, is a sweet potato a yam?
This is a question I ask myself every time I see a yam. I have looked it up many times before, but for some reason the answer just leaves my brain immediately. Maybe if I write it down in this post it will stick. Ok, are you ready? Sweet potatoes are not yams and yams are not sweet potatoes.
Yams are a completely different vegetable, even though they may look and taste similar.
I will admit, I have used yams in sweet potato recipes by accident and honestly I could barely tell the difference.
