Where to Find Garden Inspiration
Jump to RecipeThere are so many places online to find how to grow specific items or grow in specific areas. Since I am a fairly new gardener, I have done a lot of research learning how to grow a productive and beautiful garden. Here are a few of my favorite resources.
Blogs
- Floret Flower This is by far my most used resource for growing cut flowers. There are posts on many types of flowers as well as general growing guides
.
- Fresh Exchange She has great content about what is growing in her garden at each time of the year. As a fellow michigander, I find a lot of her guide helpful to me.
- Gardenista I use this blog for aesthetic inspiration. There are a lot of beautiful gardens and unique ideas I have not seen in other places.
YouTube
- Garden Answer Laura is my number 1 gardener to follow. I have learned a lot from her videos. She does a good job showing all different sizes and styles of flower beds. She also does some good vegetable garden videos. I find the one she does in her small vegetable garden to be the most helpful to the size of garden I have.
- Epic Gardening Now this channel is in San Diego so the climate is much different than mine in Michigan, but I still find a lot of the content relevant. He uses a lot of container gardening so this is a great channel if you are looking to do something in a smaller space.
- Urban Farmstead This is a fairly new YouTube channel but he has some good content for starting a garden from scratch. He shows the process of getting rid of weeds, setting up beds, and adding drip irrigation.
Books
- A Year in Flowers Breakdown of flowers in each season
- The Week-by-Week Vegetable Gardener's Handbook Great guide of what time to plant and harvest different vegetables
- A Garden Can Be Anywhere Great inspiration for different garden types
- Gardenista Beautiful garden inspiration
I will be updating this guide to include more helpful tips as I find new resources.
